Lantra is the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based sector, representing 17 industries across the whole of the United Kingdom. Everyone working within these industries, which are grouped into land-management and production, animal health and welfare and environmental industries, plays a hugely important role in the economy. The sector influences the lives of everyone living in the UK today. As a Sector Skills Council, Lantra ensures that people working in the sector have the right skills to carry out their jobs effectively, which in turn improves productivity and performance.

The National Farmers Union champions British farming and provides professional representation and services to its Farmer and Grower members. The NFU is the largest farming organisation in the UK, providing a strong and respected voice for the industry and employing a team of 600 staff to support the needs of its members locally, nationally and internationally. Among its many strengths is its unique network of local offices and advisers, co-funded by NFU Mutual meaning NFU members are never far from a representative. These branches are co-ordinated from the NFU's purpose-built headquarters at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, which opened in December 2005.
